Peterborough Opera brings LOVE IN THE AIR, ONE NIGHT ONLY 10TH June 2011 Bringing their light-hearted mix of musicals and opera to Stamford once again on June 10th, Peterborough Opera is reflecting this royal wedding year with a theme of LOVE IN THE AIR. Although some of this lively concert will be swoony romance, other songs reflect the darker moodier side of life! Songs such as I’m getting married in the morning from My Fair Lady will mix with a medley from West Side Story; Au Fond du Temple from Bizet’s Pearl Fishers and Una Furtive Lagrima by Donizetti. The concert marks two exciting developments in the life of Peterborough Opera and the Corn Exchange. The opera company have a new exciting Musical Director fresh from the opera world of Cape Town , Marc Murray. It will be the first main performance he leads for the company. And the opera company have chosen the Corn Exchange later this year to mount their production of Lehar’s The Merry Widow, to run for four nights Wed 26th – Sat 29th October. The song Vilia from Merry Widow will be previewed at the 10th June concert.
